Internet Marketing: Ignorance cost me $20 000last year

I am an educated person. I have been in the Internet business for more than seven years. I make a good living with my keyboard, but I just had a terrible shock.

One small piece of information...

One article I didn't take the time to read . . .

One subject I thought was a 'waste of time'...

... cost me an estimated $20 000 last year.

I don't know how to stress to new bloggers, freelancers, and web writers the importance of learning about keywords, click throughs, and SEO (search engine optimization)

Writing is a great career, but it is one that puts you in total control of your future, income, and success.

Anyway, this new piece of information was a little trick a professional 'net advertising' company told me to raise my page views.

When we are filling our pages out, the meta tags receive our cursory attention, and we all know about using popular keyword phrases as our article titles, but I never thought about using those same keyword phrases in the page's description.

We need to be smarter than ever now that Google has rearranged their system to put paid ads first - irregardless of their relevancy to the request. That is why my son typed in a request for WWII information and got an ad site for insurance.

Don't forget the descriptions. I changed my descriptions, and waited until Google made another pass. The result, a jump in page views that would have earned me a combined raise of $20 000 in the last twelve months.

PS. I was just informed that I could have made more if I had hired an Internet Marketing Expert - of course, that would have opened me up to an entirely new shark pool.
