INDIA SHOULD GO SLOW
The unfortunate attack on Pramod Mahajan, the Rath Yatra of Advani, the 12k Sensex, the spiralling gold and silver prices, US palming off its obsolete nuclear reactors on India, the meaningless craze for foreign investment, all convey one message. India should go slow. This frenzy takes India to an uncontrollable situation in which the mafia will rule the roost.
There are two arguments against a steady approach: 1. The world will not wait for us. We are already far behind. 2. The poor cannot wait.
World not waiting for us may be true in case of technology. In assimilating and inventing technology India should hasten its scientists. But none of the frenzy has anything to do with technology, even in IT Sector. In IT sector though much work is being done and billions are made, most of it is not innovative, it is only writing code on readymade asp/php or net technologies.
The poor cannot wait is also not a genuine argument, because none of these (sensex, gold prices etc.) are going to benefit the poor. In fact the poor are being impoverished with every step the Govt. takes. For example, when aqua sector develops, more and more prawn and shrimp farms are replacing the paddy fields. The rural agricultural labourers are losing their livelihood.
Development is welcome, but not this way!
