I was poking around FoxNews.com, and I noticed an article regarding new DNA evidence that has been discovered in the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation.

Most of us are familiar with the case of the 6 year old girl who was murdered in her home, the day after Christmas, in 1996. And many of us thought that one of her parents, or even her brother, was the perpetrator of the heinous crime. The police were convinced of it, and the media let us know where they were focusing their investigation.

Well, they spent so much time putting all their resources into this one angle, never coming up with any evidence to prove their stance, that they may very well have fouled up any chance to find the real killer.

New DNA evidence shows that a yet unknown male is responsible for the gruesome act. Now, the police have had to issue a letter and apology to the family, vowing to treat them like the victims in this case from now on, as opposed to the only suspects.

I thought it was supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty" in this country, but this case shows that sometimes, that doesn't hold water.

I understand that someone in the family is generally responsible in these cases, but this was ridiculous! The police invested entirely too much in the "fact" that it just "had" to be the mom, dad, or even brother. They refused to look elsewhere. And, likely because of that, a child killer has gotten off scot-free so far.
