If you are a New Yorker, turn up your collar in pride.

In the cricketing world, my city Madras is quite famous as well behaved crowd while watching a cricket match.

I read an interesting article recently in Reader's digest about the most polite city in the world.

Based on research conducted by a team of Reader's Digest in 35 cities all over the world, New York was rated number 1 in politeness and courtesy and Mumbai was the last.

Three tests were conducted by the team.
1. The team watched if doors weld open for them
2. Dropped a set of papers and waited for it to be picked by somebody
3. Bought something very insignificant in value and saw if they are thanked by the shop keeper.

In their findings, New York finished first in their global courtesy ratings.

Zurich was number two.
Toronto was placed third.

Mumbai in India was at the end of the list. But one bright spot in Mumbai was the ratio of polite persons versus the population of Mumbai.

Out of the 60 persons tested, 19 were courteous which is 32%
Mumbai's population is 14 million, which means there are still around 4.5 million well mannered people in Mumbai that is almost equivalent to the population of Toronto.
