I HATE Bravenet! They're The Worst Web Host Company

I am so annoyed right now!
One of my websites is currently being hosted by Bravenet.com. Boy do they suck. First of all, when I purchased my domain name I didn't know that it was only an http, not a www. When I wrote them about this they said that either one would work. Anyways, I paid $8.95 for my domain (http://thefinancyfairy.com) and I have had nothing but trouble since I started using their service.

Let me tell you that I'm not the most web savvy person out there, but I'm also not new to this whole thing either.

If you use Bravenet's hosting service, keep in mind that your template options are pretty crappy. There aren't many options. All their pre-made templates have about five boxes on each page for text or whatever. If you don't put anything in these boxes they still show up on your page (empty) and make your site look incomplete. Now I advertise for Clickbank and have product ads to fill these boxes with. However, I have to add my HTML codes (for the products) to each page manually. There doesn't seem to be a way to add anything into all the boxes at the same time.

Another confusion, when I add a page it automatically goes into my site navigation. That's fine, except my site needs different categories for each page since I have a combination of articles, credit offers, and related products. I cannot find a way to turn my "pages" into categories on my navigation.

Then, I uploaded some PHP files for my site and even paid to use their PHP file service. Well, I don't know if it's because I use a MAC, or if it's Bravenet themselves, but I am unable to configure any of my files to use on my site.

Aside from all the hassles of trying to create a pretty basic site, I also subscribed to their so-called "traffic builder." Let me just tell you that whenever I type in my address (http://thefinancefairy.com) it redirects me to some stupid Bravenet page. If I click the back button it will take me to my site, though most people won't know to do this. What a mess!!!

Whenever I have a problem I contact customer service. When they respond, every word in their message is not only misspelled, but they never answer my question. When I asked why my PHP files weren't working, they said "What PHP files?" I know they uploaded properly, but the customer service guys don't even see them!

I am so aggravated. Sure my site is being hosted for free, but I can't believe how impossible it is to use their service.

The point is, if you need a web host, don't try Bravenet unless you have a degree in computers.

First, you bought your domain name from Bravenet rather than someone who specializes in domain names. There may be cheaper places, but I'll never buy from anyone other than GoDaddy.

Second, you went with a free hosting company for your site. Because it's free, you lose a lot of options you may get from a paid site, though many paid sites won't have a lot of templates either. But with free sites, you do have to acquiesce to many of their restrictions because, after all, they are paying for it.

Then again, your site doesn't look so bad, though you put the incorrect link address in above (plus, when I got it right, if your link is actually financefairy.com), the "www" does pop up.

Course, I accidentally hit something on your page and it took me to another page called seanbondopps.com, hosted by Bravenet, whatever that is, and since I don't see it on your page, it probably means something's been missed.

Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!

You know, it took you to another page because of something called "traffic builder." I'm not too happy with this so called service offered by bravenet, as it does redirect from my site to another.

I am aware that it was my mistake for going with free hosting. However, me being new to building sites, I didn't want to invest too much. I thought about transferring my domain, but that takes about sixty days.

I looked into GoDaddy, and if you say they're a good I'll take your word. Like I said, with lack of experience I didn't want to invest to much my first time. But just a little F.Y.I to everyone, you won't be happy with Bravenet. : )
