I HAD TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT BREATHING IS IMPORTANT! PART 1

First I would like to thank kingzjewel at http://kingzjewel.mindsay.com/another_cool_blog.mws for posting a link to a blog called People Matter that I recommend you all read. It inspired me to write about how this effects real people. People like me.

Let me tell you what happened to me. Our "Christian" president has signed legislation into place that has changed medicaid and medicare. Now one has to make co-payments even if you also have a HMO with the medicaid. So what you say?

Let me break it down:
I am asthmatic. Three of my 7 kids are also asthmatic. I went to fill my prescription for the albuterol for the nebulizer and a new pump. I usually don't have to pay. I go pick up the meds and the girl tells me I now have to pay $35.00. What? I don't have $35.00. Guess what? I don't get the meds. What option do I have? Prayer. I live on a prayer so that I don't get sick and I don't need the meds that I can't afford. Does this sound right? Well, it happens everyday. They are forcing me to make a decision on gambling whether I will be able to breathe or not. Guess what? I couldn't buy it and that's it.

My son is autistic and he broke his leg. The pharmacy told me I had to pay $349.00 for a wheelchair?! I don't have that kind of money. Guess what? I don't get the wheelchair. Luckily, I met the owner of the biggest pharmacy in thecounty. (That is a longer story.) and she pulled some strings and now my son has a wheelchair and a pediatric walker. How many people have to do without? I was lucky I knew someone that could pull some strings. Other people that don't have the money or know people will not be that lucky. They will have to do without the wheelchair.

What this president is doing is wrong. Very, very wrong. But it won't effect him, his family, his neighbors or his cronies, so he does it and gets away with it.
