Firstly, congratulations to the Democrats. The Republicans have made too many mistakes lately...and it's a wonder the races were even as close as they were. The Dems should've walked away with a lot more votes than what they did. Hell, if I could've voted, I probably would've voted for the Dems, too. But now, onto my rant.
Finally...it's our turn to complain. For the last six years, I've heard nothing but "Bush this" and "Cheney that." Every little thing that happens under Bush's watch - no matter how small or trivial - has been widely criticized and publicized in the media.
Now it's our turn. I'm kinda glad the Democrats won last night. It's been so long since they've been in control, I think they've forgotten how hard it is. I remember when Clinton had Congress tipped in his favor too...and he didn't balance the budget or make the country a utopia, either.
I'm not trying to get into the argument of if he was a good or a bad president or anything like that...nobody's gonna change anybody's mind and what's the point in arguing that point anyways...it's a moot point. I'm just saying nobody's perfect...and one president and Congress makes just as many mistakes and bad judgments as the previous and the future ones.
And trust me...I'm not a Bush supporter. So I'm not trying to defend him or the Republicans. I'm not a fan of either party. My two favorite political commentators are Michael Savage and Glenn Beck...and neither of them are affiliated with either side. They point out the problems on both sides.
Despite what anybody thinks, it's not easy running a country...and neither party has a handle on the perfect plans or ideas. One politcian's idea or plan has just as many problems as the next guy's. It's not a science. It's basically trial and error. Granted, the Republicans have made quite a few errors - especially lately. But that's only because the Democrats haven't had a chance to take the blame in quite a few years.
In fact, I kinda hope a Democrat wins in 2008, too. If a Dem becomes president in 2008, it's on!! I'm tired of being on the defensive and everybody acting like I'm stupid and uneducated because of my ideas and beliefs. I do my homework just as much as the next person, if not more. I just arrive at different conclusions based on my research. Don't be mad at me just because my conclusions happen to be right (okay..that was a joke..haha). I listen to Rush, but I also listen to Ed Schultz. They both have agendas...no doubt about it. And usually, the truth is somewhere in the middle of what either of them say. I read newspapers and, contrary to popular belief, I don't just watch FOX News. I just think that they're more entertaining than the other 24-hour news networks. I just hope 2008 will be my turn to be on the offense. Maybe then I can make somebody feel stupid and uneducated the way me and many others who lean towards the Republican party have been made to feel stupid the last few years. And, if the Dems are given another chance and they fix things and make the country a better place, I give each one of you permission to tell me you told me so. But I'm pretty sure it's not gonna happen.
But at the end of the day (I hate that phrase), it doesn't really matter who is in office. They're all about their own interests and money. And I think that's one thing both parties can agree on.P
