I was given an IQ test at a recent therapy session. The session was set up by the state to help determine if I qualify for disability or not. Being bipolar, I feel I deserve a pension.
I answer all questions as honestly as I could. The doctor asked if I need any help with hygiene. I gave him the honest answer, “Most days my mom no longer has to help me get dressed. She used to always say my clothes clashed. Now she almost never has to tell me that. I’ve gotten much better at picking out my own clothes.�
The next day I realized: that statement, true or not, makes me sound like a total retard. I can’t repeat the incident for friends or family without laughing because I’m so embarrassed over my stupidity.
