Do you remember the old saying, "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?" Well, I now know the meaning of that saying. Since we have moved to northern Virginia from Fort Wayne, Indiana I can attest to the truth of that statement. When my husband was considering the move and we did all the househunting stuff things here looked okay. How difficult could it be to move to a town of 6,000 from a town of 200,000? Let me tell you that it is difficult. Yes, there is a Target store, an outlet mall, a Regal Cinema, eye doctors, family physicians and hospitals, but it takes at least 20 minutes to get to the closest one. It is about to drive me crazy! We were so spoiled in Fort Wayne because although we lived in an area that was semi-rural, we had a great movie theater, two satellite hospitals, a mall, two Target stores, a Wal-Mart, a Lowe's and everything we could possibly want, all within 10 to 15 minutes from our home. Here in Northern Virgnia, if you want to have all those conveniences, you have to live in one of the "master planned communities" that have huge homes built two feet from each other on postage stamp sized lots. All for the tiny sum of $800,000 to over $1,000,000. These "Stepford wives-like" communities frightened me, so we opted for a little more land, a less expensive house, and a lot of inconvenience. Now I am second guessing our decision. Everything I do takes such an effort. Right now, all I want to do is sit at home and mope!
