In a previous entry (read it here) I talked about how to make a dog vomit using salt. I learned today a few important things:
1) Lite salt may not work
2) If your dog does NOT vomit up the salt, he may develop an electrolyte imbalance
The emergency clinic I spoke to while having today's crisis (all three dogs feasted on ALL of my son's left over Easter candy, including wrappers and stickers that were in the same bag) suggested peroxide (which as I've said in my experience doesn't always work) or syrup of ipecac. If vomiting is induced but doesn't occur, a dog should be taken to a vet to be given a shot that induces vomiting (at the vet's discretion).
As you can tell, I've had yet another crummy day!
