Horror Films Peak On Hill

I recently viewed "Silent Hill" at the movies and it is one
in a line of recent films to visually assault the viewer with
unsettling images that overwhelm the story.
There isn't a lot to the story."Saw" had a story line to match the gore. This one just shows the scriptwriters'distaste
for fundementalist Christianity.
The saving grace is the visual beauty of the horrific imagery
which I believe is the point of the whole exercise.
The director, cinematographer, art director and set designers all deserve recognition for creating memorable scenes and effects that
resonate deeply.
Some of the imagery was beautiful in its violence.I think that
is why todays horror films are so compelling. The imagery and effects are making modern painting look spare and devoid of
riveting imagery.Surrealist painting set to motion is what the
best of these horror films today achieve.I hate to admit I wasn't scared so much as inspired to create the color and dynamic
I saw upon the screen.I was saturated with images, the story was really secondary.Maybe it wasn't the scariest movie but it was visually very entertaining.Check it out.
