Hollywood Crushes My Doggie Dreams
A while ago, I wrote an entry about how my dog was "destined for stardom" based on the fact that she did some modeling for the opening to a television show. (Read about it here: My Dog is Going to Be a Supermodel) For those of you who were interested, the first show aired on June 30th to rather anti-climactic results - my precious whippet landed on the cutting room floor.
Apparently, the producers decided to change directions with the style of the show, because none of what my dog club members and I shot during the 1.5 hour videotaping made it to air. The director of the opening credits said that our dogs would be doing agility in front of graphics, but instead they used footage directly from the show and put it into a "news program" format.
The annoying thing about it is that the local production company didn't let any of us know that the material had been dumped. My club provided equipment, and a handful of us drove down and made ourselves available, all for free. We were told that we would get a copy of the tape so that we could all see how it turned out. When no copy arrived, I was a little nervous, but my friends said, "Hey, they're busy, maybe they are putting last minute touches on it and stuff."
But no. They had decided not to use it (or, more likely, the directors or producers of the show contacted them and told them to do something different) but didn't bother to let us know. So there we all sat, VCRs taping, friends and family watching, all for nothing.
I guess that's Hollywood for you!

oh, sorry!
that is a bummer! but it is SOOO typical of the industry. i have been cut annd/or replaced before and it always comes down to the client wanting a different "look", or in your case a different dog. or they end up filming too much and cant use all the footage, etc. :-(
Cool Baby Reviews
Yes, I'm sure it's very typical
It just would have been nice if someone from the production company had notified our contact person. It would have taken two minutes, and since we did it for free...
Oh well! It was fun anyway!
