History of Car Insurance /Automobile insurance

First auto policy to cover the injury liability by car body was written by an English company in 1895 .In united states such policy was written for Dr. Truman J Martin in 1898. This policy was written on the forms, which were used for the insurance cover issued for liability arising from the use of horses or mules.
This was followed by auto collision policy issued in1899. THE car /auto property damage policy was written in1902.
Boston insurance company paid the first large auto insurance claim in 1904 to William Wallace. He was driving from Boston to Worcester, when his gasoline tank exploded.
