Well, I just went to the dentist yesterday and my visit was not too enjoyable. I had not been to the dentist for years and just knew I had some major problems, especially the top back tooth. The thing has been falling apart little by little over the past few years and seemed like they're was just a big whole there now. Anyways, first they did some x-rays and found all the work I needed to be done. That back tooth had to be pulled out. Three baby teeth also had to be pulled out that had never fallen out when I was a kid and they were stuck there in between my regular teeth. Four teeth need root canals and I had to have 3 fillings done. They found way more than what I thought, my teeth looked fine besides that back tooth but once you get the x-rays it's amazing what they find. Of course all of this work could not all be done in one day so they started out by giving my teeth a good cleaning and then did the 3 fillings. Then the dentist pulled out the baby teeth which didn't seem to hurt much, the cleaning of the teeth actually hurt more than that. Then came the pulling out of that back tooth. OK, I've never had a tooth pulled out before so I had no idea how much it would hurt. Before starting this, the dentist gave me a shot in the mouth to kill any pain. I was fine as he was working on it but then he must have hit a nerve because I jumped and said "Ahhhhh"!, kind of made the dentist back up. He asked if I need more medicine and I said "Ah-Ha". He gave me another shot in the mouth and i was really numb, I couldn't even feel my cheeks. He finished and removed the pieces of that tooth and we were finished. They gave me little things to put in my mouth so the blood could soak into them and I was to dispose of it and put a new one in my mouth. I was to continue this until it stopped bleeding. Wow! I didn't know that it would bleed so long. It was 12:00 noon when I walked out of the dentist office and here we were at 6:00 PM and it was still bleeding. I had a fruity ice-cream at this time and I don't know if it helped our what but after eating that ice-cream the bleeding stopped. It has now been almost 48 hours since my visit and I'm OK now, still hurts a little but nothing that I can't handle. The only thing now is this darn nasty taste in my mouth, and the bad breath that goes with it. I brushed my teeth, tried some mouthwash, did everything I could but nothing can take this nasty smell away. It's freakin gross! A few people have told me that it is OK, that they had the same thing when a tooth got pulled out on them. I'm just hoping it goes away real soon. By the time it completely heals I'll probably be going back for all those damn root canals! Warning: Take care of your teeth if you don't want to experience a lot of pain!
