Recently I suddenly decided to have a look at my Helium articles again and subsequently entered a new phase of writing more articles and rating other people's pieces more frequently as well. It's good fun to check your earnings every now and then and see them increase, however slowly at times.
The thing to remember is that this income is generated by your own writing efforts which, as a once-struggling poet, I have come to appreciate with a measured sense of glee and satisfaction.
Also, it helps if you have invited writers to join Helium as they then add to your income with the articles they in turn contribute.
I usually try to spend some time rating articles as well and sometimes the insipid nature of debates and questions is frustrating and, frankly off-putting. Some of the articles you come across are written in very poor grammar. Every dunce can have an internet connection, of course.
Every so often I get quite fed up with the volume of vague Christian topics I am asked to vote on and rate articles on and then I usually leave for a while. In the meantime, before I decide to check back in at a later stage, my articles keep slogging away, earning me a small, very small, in fact miniscule fortune.
I think I may have developed a slight obsession with Helium, mitigated by a strong love-hate element. Perhaps I need to check into writers' rehab?
