The seventh and final installment of the phenomenal Harry Potter series has finally arrived! I lined up outside Powerbooks Greenbelt last July 21 at 7 am, only to discover that so many others had the exact same idea. It took me about 10 minutes to get inside the store and about half an hour to arrive at the counter and purchase the book. It was a thrilling feeling and I didn't mind the wait a t all. Powerbooks was fully decorated and there was a room of sorts constricted at the activities area that resembled Hogwarts when you entered (that's where they gave free coffee and doughnuts, I wasn't able to get any, though). They had a glass case containing a rather lange snake sleeping alongside several Harry Potter books.

The moment I got home, I began my magical journey with The Boy Who Lived.

Three days later (at 2 in the morning), I closed the book and said my goodbyes to those characters who have taken me with them on all sorts of adventures. It felt like saying goodbye to an old friend. I think Harry Potter has had a good reign in the literary world but has now found that it is time to retire. I was saddened by the thought that there won't be any more adventures with the young wizard but at the same time, I felt that it is time that we, the readers, must move on.

J. K. Rowling has achieved what other writers can only dream of. Not just becoming a New York Times Bestseller each time she releases a book, but to have that kind of impact to the readers. It is rare to have such a large range of audience hooked on one booked.

For a few moment in thier lives, millions of children and adults alike put down thier video games, left their computers, set aside thier mobile phones and sat down to savor the contents of a good book.

In an age where piracy reigned and people could have gotten an illegal copy of the book long before everyone else, the whole world (or at least most of it) stood their ground and waited until its official release.

When spoilers were distributed all over the net, free for the taking, we learned to close out eyes and look away.

I will definitely miss Harry Potter.Through Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling has taught the world to stand up against the evils of this world and fight. My hope is that Ms. Rowling would write another series, so that we could have a new adventure, new friend to share it with, and new lessons to learn from them.
