With Hamas at the lead, the US and European nations are put into a difficult position in their collective desire to formulate democracy in the Mid East and with legitimate democratic elections bringing a strict Islamist 'government' to power that refuses to peaceably recognize Israel.

Even today, Hamas has said that it will not talk to Israel because of the occupation of their demanded territory. The challenge for Western and moderate Arab nations is how to work with Hamas which has the majority of votes of the Palestinian people in a peaceful means especially when one clear objective of Hamas is the destruction of a neighbouring nation.
