Halo 3 nets 170MILLION first day world record!

The numbers for Bungie’s North American Halo 3 launch yesterday are in, they made over $170 million , making this game the highest selling game in entertainment history for the first day launch, yes movies and games combined! It beats the $125 million dollars on the first day launch for halo 2, $151 million dollar first day launch for spider man 3.

Microsoft also hit another world record in entertainment history, Halo 3 was the most pre ordered game in history, at 1.7 million pre orders.

There was one more record broken! Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios says “Within the first 20 hours alone, we’ve seen more than a million Xbox LIVE members come online to play Halo 3 – that makes September 25 the most active Xbox LIVE gaming day in history.”

Thats incredible how much money they made the first day, but its not all profit. I heard that Microsoft invested $100 million dollars into marketing Halo 3, man thats alot of money, which probably increased there sales a whole lot more.
