I must tell you that being a girl in Texas growing up, I loved my cowboys. I began watching in the Roger Staubach era, not really understanding the game. All I know is my family, mostly uncles and some cousins would root them on and so did I.

Being an adult woman in North Texas, I still have a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys. I may have not like the coaches or the Owner sometimes, but deep in my heart I always, always loved the boys... I must admit I could have been described as a fair weather fan sometimes too. Meaning if they were doing good I was rooting for them, if not well, you know I didn't.

I will also let you know that when he was again up for the HOF I really didn't want him to get in.. To me the HOF is not only on the field, it is a title worthy of so much more. It is being a role model, a good trustworthy person. Someone that stands above the rest both on and off the field. I just thought that he had a long way still to go before he was really ready to accept that title and be able to really appreciate what it ALL would mean, not just to him, but the entire NFL and men before him inducted...

When I watched his acceptance of the HOF honor, I was really moved. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing him say.... He finally, finally understood what it ALL would mean to him and the men before him, and the men still to come. I saw his raw humbleness, and deep appreciation. He spoke like a true Hall of Famer.. I saw his family there and his friends. I heard what he told his son about not getting it 2 times before. I heard Michael Irvin and all he is and stands for today.

I have now changed my mind, which is a woman’s prerogative!! I am very, very happy that the new Michael Irvin as gotten finally the recognition he deserves..
