Growing Old Gracefully. Not!

I heard recently that the biggest subscribers are men in the late 40's and 50's. And it isn't vanity, it is almost neccessity. Seems the perception is that if you are over 40 and looking for work you are at a huge disavantage if you are older. However, in Canada, employers are not allowed to discriminate based on age and therefore cannot ask about your age. They are allowed to look at you and draw conclusions based on that. ( Hmm, may they should legislate that job interviews be held in confessionals? ) So if you go in looking like you are in your 30s and they wrongly conclude that you are in your 30s, they cannnot fire afterwards when they learn the truth. Seems a little underhanded to me but I suppose you do what you have to do.

In my line of work, age adds character and therefore makes me a more interesting subject. I am male though and I know that this is not always the case for females in my line of work. I have always thought that unfair.

I saw the production "Cats". In it Gus the theatre cat get old with style and grace, while the female character fades to obscurity. WHY?!
