Some writers find that the most difficult part of writing is finding coming up with ideas to write about. This may be a consistent difficulty for some writers or may be a dry spell caused by writers block (there are a few good blogs here dealing with writers block, here is just one). Anyway, article ideas can come from any number of sources that you encounter everyday. The following is a few places to ideas to jump-start your article writing.
Interests and hobbies: You can find excellent ideas for articles from your own personal interests. Are you into scrapbooking? Why not pass on some of your own personal tips? Love to read? Write a book review. Writer? Oh no, the last thing we need is another writer telling us how to write (guilty as charged).
Discussions: This one is pretty vast. Ideas can stem from conversations you have with family and friends. However, online discussions can also generate ideas for articles as well. Many of us are already members of forums, mailing lists (like Yahoo! Groups), or news groups. Discussions and questions posed in these threads are good places to start. I've come up with numerous article ideas from participating in or lurking in online forum discussions.
Life: Sometimes the most obvious answers are the ones we usually overlook. Family, relationships, parents, children, career, cooking, pets... These are aspects of life people encounter everyday, and there are markets for articles on all of these topics.
One good way to approach article topics is to answer a question that you either posed yourself or that someone else has asked. Perhaps someone else can post a blog helping me with one of my problems, being idea overload (as in, more ideas than I have time to write about).
