Grace and Peace

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:7

Paul concludes his opening greeting to the Christians in Rome with this characteristic turn of phrase.

Grace is one of the great theological emphases of the apostle Paul and one that he explains and applies magnificently in this vita letter. Peace with God is the result of his grace towards men and women.

The fact that Paul equates The Lord Jesus Christ with God the Father illustrates his assumption that Jesus is co-equal with God - a truth he has touched on already in his introduction.
