Two Republican Senators, John McClain (Arizona) and Chuck Hagel (Nebraska) are of two completely different minds when it comes to the war in Iraq. McClain is surely a Bush backer wanting to UP the number of troops in Iraq and put more Americans in the middle of an Iraqi Civil War.
Chuck Hagel, on the other hand, seems to make more sense as he proposes getting American troops out of the middle of the civil turmoil and more towards the border without jeopradizing more American lives. As he put it, "moving troops away from the sectarian violence and closer to the Iraq border to provide "territorial integrity."
Both senators experienced Vietnam. Neither one wriggled out of his duty during the Far East conflict and that is why this arguement is so meaningful.
McClain is a presidential candidate and it seems his brand of name calling labeling non-supporters of the heist in troop numbers as "intellectually dishonest".
This is so so so Republican. Make the other guys look stupid because they don't agree with the course of action and quite honestly, dissention is what makes this country great.
Hagel, on the other hand, has offered a new strategy by pulling the trops further away from the mess Bush and Rumsfeld created.
It is nice to know there are Republicans who can think for themselves and who don't follow the status quo like sheep. I guess Hagel's solid Midwestern upbringing has a way of overshadowing Bush and McClains "I'm gonna stay the course" even if the ship sinks!
I like Hagel's approach. I like the way he thinks.
