Goldie Hawn Would Be My First Choice

I used to think that plastic surgeons were a bit like magicians.

If I wanted to look like Goldie Hawn,(and who wouldn't), all I had to do was tell him that,and he could make it happen in time for the Senior prom two weeks later.

There are several other people I wouldn't mind looking like either, but plastic surgeons are not magicians; they are not miracle workers; and, unfortunately,they are limited by the material (me, in this case) that they are given to work with.

All kidding aside, plastic surgeons do provide a wonderful service. We joke about the vanity of women who have one procedure after another to attain the elusive beauty they seek, only to end up looking worse than if they had left things as they were.

But, we often read of cases where someone who is severely scarred as a result of an accident or fire is given a whole new outlook on life because of the wonderful work done by a plastic surgeon.

A little girl in our community was born with huge disfiguring lumps in one cheek and people would stop her mother to express shock and ask what had happened. Can you imagine how this little girl must have felt, and the joy she felt after having surgery that corrected the problem? There was a picture in our local paper showing her proudly smiling at her new reflection in a mirror. I felt joy myself, just looking at it.

I don't recommend plastic surgery as a way of life, but I do think it is a real blessing for people like this little girl. Perhaps you know someone that falls into this category.
