Typically, a blogger wants people to read what they have to say. And that's the case today, as well. But more than that, I want you to take it to heart. If you don't like what I have to say, I'm probably talking about you.
Yes, I have the most "points" on this site. That doesn't make me God. I can't tell you how many private messages I get from people who want to know when they get paid. Do I look like admin?? So, let me answer the question for you. You get paid when you write some articles worth reading. Google Adsense pays you, not Bloggerparty. You will never get a check from Bloggerparty (and chances are, you will never get one from Google either). For Google's terms of service, go bug Google, but leave me alone. When I was new here, I didn't quite understand how it worked either, but I made sure to look around the site to see if I could figure it out. And what do you know? I did!
Posting entry after entry is the most ridiculous thing you can do. A) It pisses everyone off, and you'll be lucky to get 10 reads. B) When you can barely manage to write 25 words, you don't have anything so interesting to say that we need to hear it 10 times in a row. C) You suck at cocktail parties, don't you? Occasionally, other people like to talk too. Monopolizing the front page just makes you look like a jerk.
Posting comment after comment is worse. Especially when you say the same thing in every comment. No, you don't appreciate what the author wrote. Not when 3/4 of your comment is links, and you only responded to the "Popular Content". Do you really think I need your validation so much that I'm going to welcome that handjob of a comment??
WRITE SOMETHING WORTH READING!!! I'm not going to point out specific posts, but suffice to say, this site is rampant with shit that isn't worth reading. This applies to the whole internet. ICanHasCheezburger is a sign of the apocalypse, and if you actually think it's funny, I curse your very existence. I'm not asking for gold every single time, because I certainly don't deliver it. But I am asking for at least a minimum effort.
Write comments worth reading. Today, I had a comment on another blog of mine. They repeated one phrase I used. That's it. No original thought of their own, no comment on what I wrote. Just a parroting back of what I just said. It was easily the most moronic comment I've ever read because they weren't even doing it for a link back to their site!! It was pointless. As if their entire existence became justified by leaving a comment somewhere. *rolling eyes* I like comments that leave room for conversation. But please don't bother with things that make me wonder how I'm supposed to respond.
Now for the things I don't mind. I don't mind a paid post every now and then. It used to be a lot worse here when you needed posts in between your paid ones. People would write whatever mindless shit came to mind so they could justify earning five bucks. It was tragic. Now there aren't that many paid blogging companies that let you post here anymore, so it's cleared out a lot of the crap. Most of the time now, people actually make the slightest effort with their paid posts. Good for you. I don't hold your moneymaking efforts against you, because that's why we're all here. We're all hoping that Google gives us a big fat payday.
I don't mind people who can't spell. At least, not exactly. I realize there are a lot of people here who don't speak English as a first language. I don't care about that. But try to write something and it will be worth more to me than pulling a well-written article from some other site. That's just ugly and wrong.
I don't mind comments that get way off-track. That's the coolest way to actually get to know someone. I know it irritates some people, but I don't particularly mind.
Okay. Rant over. Feel free to rant, flame, agree, or ignore.
