As I've posted here and like a dozen other places, I don't know exactly what happened to keep some people from being able to log into The Speakeasy over the weekend. We'll call it a Raid and things had to cool off for a bit so the bulls didn't come creeping back around, but in all honesty, I'm busted. I dunno.
Still, I found that you should see a button at the top which says Restore Session. When you click it, it says, "Your session has expired," then prompts you for your confirmation. In your profile, you can change this to whatever you like - from yo mama's maiden name to whatever, but if you choose to (or simply didn't set it), it's just your password.
I had a few folks try it lately and they've had no problems, but...
Although I have not added any mods to the thing, I can have like full profiles on there, where you can do the whole "Who I am, what I'm about, I like men who..." all that stuff you can do - favorite books, and so on - but I want to make sure everything's flying right with the basic setup first before I get so many extra bells and whistles that it becomes a morass of "it could be THAT, or it could be THIS, etc." just in case something like this comes up again. But as things stand right now, you can still add your site and/or blog to your paltry profile and it will show up at the bottom of all your posts, so there's a great chance to get some more hits.
Admin messages can only be posted by me right now because no one else has signed up to be moderators or managers. Admin msgs show up in EVERY forum and you cannot reply to them directly, even though you can always start a new thread about them. That thread only shows up in the forum you posted it in, so I may make one of the Waitstaff forums an admin-reply thingy.
That's why I'd really love for more people to get involved - not just to give me suggestions but also because, the more people use it, the more they'll tend to do whatever they want with it and the forums will develop a life and focus of their own.
Still, there's a lot more to come, I just hate to spend hours more on it until I have a better handle on how things work and I really don't have time to change things, post fake msgs to myself, go back and see how they work, change things, go back and delete them all, etc., etc.
Forums and messageboards are great ways to promote your blogs, as well as establish yourself as an authority on whatever subject(s) you are interested in and/or blog about.
