Generic vs. Name Brand Drugs

Submitted by chadwick on January 10, 2007 - 11:52pm.

Generic drugs, many doctors say, are just as good as the name brand drugs. Generic Ultram is one of these drugs. Tramadol HCL is typically used for fibromyalgia and other diseases where a mild pain reliever other than ibuprofen is needed. Many people claim that they cannot tell a difference between the effects of generic versus name brand drugs, but patients have to be sure to ask for it at their pharmacist. Normally, generic drugs are available only upon request and not all name brand drugs have generic versions.

Generic names of Drugs

Drugs, when prescribed by their generic names, come a lot cheaper. The quality of the drug, however, remains the same whether it is branded or not!
Beats me why Brand names still survive in the market!
As a Doctor, I always try and prescribe medicines using generic names, to my patients, to save them some money and I have never found any deficit in the quality of the drugs used.
