Gay marriage, the bible, and America
Homophobia has become rampant in the United States. Gay marriage is abolished because it supposedly disrupts the "sanctity" of a union between a man and a woman. The overarching idea and impression given by our president and the chirstian politcal groups is that if gays are allowed to get married, suddenly all the heterosexual marriages out there will become meaningless. Firstly, if there are people on this website who agree with these ideas, please come forawrd and voice your opinions, because I think more people should hear your reasoning and justifications.
I was raised by society to believe that marriage is a union between two people who love each other enough to promise themselves monogamously to each other, forever. It's a beautiful, romantic thing.
Now, suddenly, it is the permanent, holy union between a man and a woman. Correct me if I am mistaken, but is the that the Bible's definition, or not? I have searched for a long time, and I can not find the bible quote(s) that states this, but many people and christian leaders summarize it to this point, so I am willing to accept it for the sake of this article.
of the nature of a democracy. In a democractic nation (it is even written in the United State's constitution), each individual is guaranteed a freedom to worship.
So why should the gays of America be forbidden to marry because of a religious doctrine?
Am I the only one who sees this hypocracy?
Many years ago (or perhaps not so many), Americans thought that people of color were below white people, and the two should be seperated. Today, the supreme court looks with shame upon the decsions it made towards people of color, especially African Americans, during those times and segregation remains one of the dark chapters in America's history. For we saw our hypocracy, in that people of color, are not 3/5 of men, but they are MEN, and deserve the rights the constitution promised them.
Granted, the constitution mentions nothing on marriage, but the principle is the same.
America will look back in shame someday at the way we have been treating homosexuals, for our hypocracy and our ignorance.

I'll bet you are gay. Read
I'll bet you are gay. Read this blog to understand why I say that.
Not that easy
I'm actually straighter than most people I know.
I just think you're either trolling, or are an irrational homophobe.
That's not it
Marriage is between a man and woman. Create a civil union. What's the big deal? They want the legal rights correct? Most people don't have a problem with that. But the "I'm gonna get what I want or you're afraid of me" populous can't get their way if that happens can they? Just like feminism, many want special status for everything.

It's not special status
I'm a little confused on the point your trying to make. Most people don't have a problem with marriage being strictly between a man and a woman? The bottom line is, homosexuals can't get what they want because people ARE afraid of them. Why else would someone kick a son or daughter out of their own home? It's not about having a special status. They just want to be able to get married, like normal people, because they are normal people. Wouldn't creating a civil union be far more like a "special status?"
