Freelancers! It’s time to rise against the middlemen….who loot us.

It is a well known fact that the freelancing is a tough arena. It is hard to find proper freelance work. And when some freelancer finds a good work there are several middlemen hungrily waiting to eat the best part of the cake.

See the experience I had to go through. I invested nearly $160 dollars on a site to view and bid on freelance works. I bid for a work, which was very low by all standards as the competition was stiff. I had to settle for $4 for a 300 word article. When I completed the project and got the money. The service provider wants 10% of the money. I don’t know on what grounds they are demanding 10% after I had already paid a good amount of money to bid for the works on the website.

After paying the 10% to the website, I found that paypal has taken some amount as transaction fee. Now when I withdrew the money again paypal took some amount. When I went to the bank to cash the check they took a fee stating transaction fee. At last what came into my hands for an article was $2.5. That means I got paid around $2.5 for three hours. Great isn’t.

I feel it is high time freelancers came together and decided on a course of action. Several middlemen are taking advantage of our precarious situation.
