Freedom of Speech vs. Freedom of Behavior
This morning I heard about a boy who is planning to sue his school because they would not allow him to attend the prom dressed as a girl. Many of the callers said that the school was infringing on his rights and that they were completely wrong for refusing to allow him to attend.
I disagree.
I do not think that there should be freedom to act however you would like. Many behaviors are inappropriate and there should be regulations made to prohibit them.
I do think there is freedom of speech and that you should be allowed to say what you would like.
Here is an example: I find the homosexual lifestyle repulsive. I have the right to make that opinion known if I would like. I do not have the right to commit violent acts against homosexuals. I can say whatever I want about them, but my behavior cannot reflect that.
I understand that many of you will disagree with me in this area and that is fine. You have the right to disagree with me. That is what freedom of speech is.

There is a difference
There is a difference between a violent and non-violent act. Freedom should be allowed for non-violent acts. If we take away this right, the goverment is "free" to control all of our actions and all we can do is a verbal protest, with no hope of things changing. Once freedom to act, (liberty), is taken away, we are no longer a free people.
