Forgive My Ignorance, But How is Banning Abortion an Assault on a Woman's Health?

Being male, it is impossible for me to have an abortion. Yesterday I heard that the Supreme Court was considering a ban on partial birth abortions, a procedure which involves puncturing the skull of a partially delivered, premature infant. In response to the potential ban and the new make-up of the Supreme Court, a women's rights activist claimed that such a ban would be an assault on the health of women.

I am a bit befuddled by that statement. How is banning what can only be considered a barbaric practice an assault on a woman's health? Again, I do not know these things because I am a man. I would think that terminating the life of an unborn child inside of a woman (I feel it necessary to use woman here because anyone who would destroy the life of a child, born or unborn, is not a mother) would cause more harm to her health, physically and psychologically. Of course, I could be wrong.

One more thing: is no one concerned about the assault on the health of the baby?
