The University of South Florida just beat Auburn at Auburn! I realize that a football post is about the last thing you'd ever expect to read in this blog, but USF is my alma mater (twice, no less) and my family is pretty frickin' excited.

In other, completely unrelated and not-nearly-as-pleasant news, my dearest Whippet has a not-so-dear lump. It's a scary lump, near her breastbone. The vet, who is normally pretty willing to say, "Yea, that's nothing," said, "Let's aspirate that and send it off. And we should do some bloodwork too."

I don't like the sound of that.

Of course, the lump was discovered on Friday morning so the bloodwork and such won't come back until Monday afternoon, maybe. That's too long to wait.

I found the lump because the Wonder Whippet had bruised herself in a most spectacular fashion, presumably during one of her mountain goat imitations. She's gained three pounds from counter surfing recently. The bruising covered her entire ribcage area, which was cause of concern in and of itself. The lump was the icing on a really ugly cake.
