Watched a fabulous football match last night. England thrashed Russia three-nil in an exciting open sort of game. Michael Owen, England's main striker, fired off two superb goals and the English team once again played with confidence and zeal.

It made me think how much I enjoy good football and how much I always look forward to catching one of the more important matches on telly. I make sure I get a few beers in and just relax.

Having said that, I can also take or leave it. I mean: I enjoy football without making the mistake of thinking it's in any way important. There is nothing sillier than a grown man with tears in his eyes because his team lost.

I hope England keep on performing well and that they qualify for next year's European Championships. The big tournaments just aren't the same without the English being there..
