Family Ties

There are many of us around. You can't avoid us.
We lurk everywhere, in every corner, in every
dismal pocket of your life. We are the ones you
fear most. We have control over your emotions,
your money, your time, your thoughts. Don't
underestimate our power, for we know more about
you than you do. We manipulate every waking hour,
the end goal to frustrate you into submission.
You know us, you see us, you hear us, but you
will never conquer us...for we are your FAMILY!

We invade your space, we eat your food, we talk
and yell until your head hurts. When we are
distant, we come to your home unannounced and
stay for weeks. If you run into money, we are
there to relieve you of the weight. We demand
your attention when you have none left to give.
Our inherent quest to meet our own needs fall
squarely on your shoulders, and if you do not
succeed, you will crumble under our constant
nagging. Yes, we are your family, brothers,
sisters, distant, annoying uncles and cousins,
the infestations of personal space and mental
peace. There is no place to hide, no refuge,
but in the acceptance that we are here to stay.
So smile, because we love you...really, we do!
