false drama!

Sometimes when there's nothing on the tube, I'll catch myself watching a mechanically oriented show, such as orange county choppers, or west coast customs, and I enjoy them on some level, but it seems that there's always got to be some big fake drama, wether it's a conflist between employees, or they are working against a deadline, or both... usually both, anhd there's always a deadline, wich leads me to believe that the deadline is completely made up just to add suspense and drama to the show. Why can't they just let the show stand on it's mechanical merits alone ? I don't tune in to these shows for the drama, and I find it to be annoying.

While it’s tachy (and not mechanically oriented), Iron Chef seems to stay away from the false drama. I like how it’s set up like a game show. The stress is real.

I like some cooking shows as well- I've seen the show you're talking about , just once or twice. The cooking show that I really like is good eats. I also like that show where the guy goes around the world eating strange and exotic foods.

Cheers!
