Expecting Models

Oooooh, I love the show on Discovery Health called Runway Moms. It's my new TV show fave, and follows other models around NY as they go on castings and bookings.....only thing is that they are pregnant!
Pregnancy seems to be more popular now than ever, thanks to all the celebs that are giving birth left & right, which has led to a lot of new and amazing clothing designs for moms-to-be. Just because you are expecting doesn't mean you have to wear a huge floral mumu anymore! These designers, like Liz Lange, are making clothes that aren't only comfy but also really attractive and can even be used post partum.
I love this show and love the fact that now there is a modeling agency expressely for pregnant models. In the past, regular agencies would tell their expecting models that they could get them work, but with all of the non preggo girls on their boards, the pregnant ones usally ended up getting one job if any out of her entire 9 months!
The agency, Expecting Models, with offices in LA & NY caters to models and clients within the maternity fashion industry......and lord knows I wish I had known about them when I was pregnant with my son. I got one booking the entire time I was pregnant.....and I know that I would have worked a lot more had I been with Expecting Models. Not only is it nice to make some modeny while you would normally be considered out of comission, but the pictures are such a wonderful keepsake of your pregnancy. Yay! I love this show and I love what the agency is all about!!

Real money, like gold & silver, and unlike the paper stuff we use today actually holds its value. And while the majority of folks think that the prices of things like food and gas have gone up, the reality is that value of the US dollar has gone down...not surprising, is it! That's why investment experts agree that investing in precious metals is a wise move especially in these far from stable times, politically & economically. Don't know where to start? Monex is a company, that since 1967, has been aiding people in ivesting in gold, silver and bullion. They are industry leaders and uniquely qualified to fill the personal investor's needs.

I have seen this show as I was flipping through the channels, but I never stopped to watch it.
I'm a huge Project Runway junkie, and Heidi Klum has been pregnant for two of the three seasons. And that's absolutely no fair! First, she gets to be prettier than all of us, and then she can go through pregnancy without stringy hair, and bad skin?!? Totally unfair!! lol
Seriously though, I think it's great that there is an agency for pregnant models, and even better, that pregnant women aren't being dressed like the children they are carrying by designers. I went through both my pregnancies switching between only a couple of tops, because the others were just too hideous to even consider.

LOL Intricate!
yeah, Heidi is an anomaly....and then she got the Victoria Secret runway in a thong and bra (oh yeah and some wings) a few weeks after giving birth! i was still in my sweats and hubby's t-shirts at that point!
and i totally know about the maternity fashions of yore....my mom actually still had some of her maternity tops from when she was preggo with me and offered them to me when i was preg with my son. have mercy. bows & flowers and lace, not to mention polyester? oh hell no. i think i could've improvised something much cuter from a hefty garbage sack!

LOL!!
I was lucky after my kids were born. I told everyone that having a baby was the newest miracle weight loss cure! lol See, I had morning sickness the whole time, and so I didn't gain any weight, even though I tried. So when I gave birth, I dropped A LOT of weight all at once. Not that it helped with my Heidi Klum body at all. I looked more like a deflated basketball. lol

Man, I just KNEW this was going to be a post about you...
...being pregnant. Damn :(
Cool story though. Plus, I think in the past a lot of the maternity fashions were modeled by people with fake bellies on, who weren't pregnant. Which meant they looked very different than those of us with really pregnant, cellulite-covered asses. Sorry to be blunt.
I'm disgusted with how fat I've gotten. I'm finally feeling well enough to walk for exercise a little, despite the never-ending UTI. I hope that this month I'll be able to control my weight better because of the exercise. Being a writer does nothing for my fatness, let me tell you.
At my doctor's visit today, my doctor announced that he thinks that my placenta is going to stay in it's low-lying, no way the baby can come out position. Ultrasound next week will confirm. If so, I'm looking at a c-section and various concerns about bleeding to death and whatnot. Nice. Wish me luck.
My daughter better be the perfect baby thanks to all the trouble she's causing me in utero!!!!!

Brenna!
i thought you might think that i was gonna drop the baby bomb with this one! ;-) you have to read the book "Waiting for Birdy". i think you wil LOVE it. it's about a freelance writer (true story) and her tongue in cheek account of her expecting her 2nd baby, a girl, and she already has an almost 3 year old boy. sound familiar? :-)
and here's a funny: i modeled more maternity BEFORE getting pregnant than i did after! when i first started modeling i did about 4 jobs for a seattle department store with a strap on belly and two pairs of chicken cutlet boobage enhancers.......lol! go figure.

Someone's written a book about my life?
I totally have to read it!
What you said confirms my thoughts - we have the wrong idea about what pregnant women should look like because the ones in the media aren't really pregnant!
I'll remember the chicken cutlet thing for when my boobs shrink back to normal not-big-enough size :)
