Excused Absence

ModelMom's picture

Man....I know I said I'd be posting on here more often but life has been INSANE lately...and blogging took a back burner.....

Let me just put it this way....my daughter just cut her first 2 teeth and it was a most traumatizing, sleep depriving, nerve wrecking experience. My son had a full mouth of teeth by the age of one and the most he (or we) suffered from it was a drool rash and a little irritability. I was not expecting to go through teething as brutal as we just did...I think I've aged 25 years over this ordeal...

And I've started to attempt reading again. Yeah, reading books. Most nights all I want to do is veg out to bad TV or sit in front of the computer till my eyes burn....but I've missed reading so much and my aunt & uncle have sent me a box of awesome lit....so....I just have to figure out how to fit all of this in and still get to bed before midnight. Whatever I've been doing has not been working! I just need about 5 more hours to my day!

Anyways, my current book is "Saturday" which I am having a hell of a time wading through. It is taking forever to get anywhere with this novel....wordy beyond wordy and it's not like I am a pulp fiction or romance novel kind of girl. I like brainy books....but this one....have mercy. I am asleep by the time I make it to the second page....but I will make it through! I loved "eat, pray, love" (LOVED!!!!!) and "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" (oh man, I hope I got the title right, since I am too tired and lazy to get up off of my ass and look at my bookshelf across the room).

Oh, and my little girl has now cut her two teeth and is much happier....of course my little guy is sick with one of those awesome preschool colds......

I just realized that this post is totally convoluted and makes no real sense....I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need/want to get back on here and post a lot more....but I've been too tired to...I'll be back with a vengeance.....(baggy eyes and all!)....soon!

I just love reading also modelmom

Problem is I cant seem to read anything that isn't on a computer screen these days. I was an avid book reader growing up. I have read so many V.C Andrews books, and Stephen King books. The last book I read was Jenny McCarthy's " Belly Laughs". Oh my god, it is too funny. If your pregnant or are already a mom, you should read this book. Now I want to read two other books. There is one by Sharon Osborne that tells of her growing up and everything she has been thru to be where she is today with Ozzy.
Then there is Nikki Sixx's new book called "The Heroin Diaries" that I really want bad. I think it will be an interesting account of events in his life.
On to a different subject--teething. Gotta love it, cause it's a joy ( I am being very sarcastic). I dont miss those days, except that I wished I could have made it easier on them going thru the teething.
Hope the little guy gets to feeling better. You know preschool--germ city.

i heard about "belly laughs" after i had baby #2 but heard it was great, so i'm bummed i missed out on it! and i also wanna read "the heroin diaries" it sounds awesome. i read "scar tissue" by anthony kiedes a while ago and i love reading autobiographies of people who've had insane lives. they always end up blowing my mind and realizing how sheltered i've really been.

thanks for the tulips by the way! :-)

out. I usually am up on all that stuff. I have this weird obsession with people in music... I dont know I should probably refer to my mother for that one, lol. I do love bios on people though, it makes for interesting reading and I do tend to compare my boring life with theirs, call me crazy..

You like books on rockers, Ammorton,...

I went through a period where I read every biography of musicians I could get my hands on, even those folks whose music I couldn't stand. Course, I had to buy them also, though many are now in deep, deep storage.

Let's see, Hendrix, Springsteed, Stones, Beatles, Janice Joplin, Doors, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr, Barry Manilow, Carpenters, Bob Dylan, The Who,... well, there are a bunch more, but I think that should cover an interesting microcosm. Course, I also read biographies of classical music and musicians, but that's a tale for another time.

most favorite. Some have come from who knows where and managed to get to the top, but not without all the pitfalls of life along the way. Yes I do love them. Just finding the time to actually sit and read where I wont be out like a light in ten or fifteen minutes.

I know what you mean,...

I, like you, do most of my reading online. Luckily, I'm also on the road a lot, so I listen to lots of books on tape as well. I'll say this; that's probably the only way I was going to get through the biographies on George Washington and John Adams.

reading and teething

spookyyank's picture

Sounds like you've had a bit of life going on! Congrats! I have been pulling up blogs while out using the net, then reading them later in the evening. I've been kind of enjoying it! But, to read actual, real books is a real joy that I can find difficult due to my attention span. The last book I read was by Clive Barker 'Coldheart Canyon'. It was awsome! I'm wanting to reread 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and 'Notes From the Underground' as well as checking out some new stuff. I've got a couple by Parke Godwin packed away that I might dig out and read now - like 'The Fire when it Comes'.
Boy, is my little one happily out of teething! And, having so many experiances with high fevers, I don't freak out anymore - just get her in the cool bath and doped up. Luckily, her immune system is getting SO much better that it seems a thing of the past, too!
