Escapist: Japan's music surges

Big in Japan

Haruna Ono, 19, fronts SCANDAL in their stellar Japan Nite 2008 showing in San Francisco on March 21.

YO's rating: A+ | The Escapist makes a major point: US musicians who can't make a dent in the States often start, not extend or end, their careers in Japan! Author Zac Bentz makes specific mention of Japan Nite and how that little tour has grown over the years, and brings with it top Japanese talent. This is a great read because it reaffirms something many of us already know: Japanese music is awesome and deserves more of a chance here if US groups can't get their act together.
