Dump the Cable!

A little over a year ago, I upgraded our home internet access to use Comcast’s cable internet service; at the time it sounded like a great deal. For $42.95 a month (that’s $10 less than the standard $52.95 since we also have cable television (another $44 a month).

Recently the Verizon folks laid fiber optic cable down in our neighborhood and I’ve just switched to their FiOS service. Now we get a faster internet connection for $8 a month less. I recommend it for anyone how might be interested; I think it’s a great deal. There were no installation charges at all (since I signed up for 1 year of service).

Now I’ve just got to figure out how to stop paying $44 a month for the cable TV. I’ve heard about the new move towards tiered cable TV service, perhaps that will help….

Just thought you’d like to know.

Ditching cable: a two step process~

First, just stop paying the bill and let them disconnect it~

Second, chug a couple bottles of warm Mad Dog; then at 2 in the morning, go out and hook it back up.

That way, when they take you to court, you can plead not guilty because after drinkin' that crap you won't remember whatcha did.

re: dump the cable

I'll tell you what, after having satellite TV I won't even consider going back to cable again. So much better, and a lot more channels for a much better price! I've only had Dish Network and have never tried DirecTV, but I imagine they are both about the same in quality. Seriously, for better quality and to help stop the "cable monopoly" high prices, switch to satellite.
