Don't show off about your lovely northern summer...

Hey, I don't want to hear or read any comments about your lovely northern summer.

It is freezing the testicles off brass monkeys in New Zealand at present.

A polar blast has hit the country from way down in the antarctic; falling snow and treacherous ice in the south to hail, sleat and freezing rain in the north.

The big international rugby test match played last night between the New Zealand All Blacks and the South African Springbocks, (the last Rugby World Cup champions) was played in the wet and freezing cold at Wellington's Westpac Stadium and was won by the All Blacks,18-9. Well it is a winter sport, I guess!

We can't complain really, because we had one of our best summers in a decade and some of the hottest weather in thirty years. Climate change? Cyclical weather patterns? Who knows? Ask Al Gore!

Ahh, you poor guy!

Well, hut, if it makes you feel better, here in Northern Minnesota, we have nine months of winter -- we routinely plunge to 25-below-zero (Fahrenheit) for days and weeks on end -- 40 and 50 below is common at least once a winter -- the record here is 60-below-zero.

Our summers are warm but extremely brief -- and filled with mosquitoes and woodticks -- so that by the end of August, we are praying for freeze-up to get rid of the god*&&^^%^%$! stinging and blood-sucking insects.

Let's face it -- everyone knows that New Zealand has the finest weather in the world on average year round -- what I'm getting at here is -- will you let me live in your basement next winter? I don't eat much.

Yeah Hutts,...

if you want to compare winters, we got 138 inches of snow this year, which was low compared to the almost 500 inches of show a community about 40 minutes north of us got this year. And we had a long cold spell this year ourselves, including both snow and cold in late May (we actually had a dusting of snow one day in June). No complaints from you now. lol

Well, at least when you are

Well, at least when you are cold you can put on more clothes to get warm. When you are down south like me, it gets really hot, and you can only take off so many clothes.

I actually prefer colder weather...

to real hot weather like in Australia - three hours away from NZ.
