When dogs are trained to sniff out drugs, bombs, cancer, and who knows what else, and when dolphins are trained to detect explosives in the water, and when pigeons are trained to deliver messages from one site to another, what does this say about the relationship between humans and other animals?

I wonder if it is suggestive of a great bonding and relationship developing amongst the various species. Or if it is merely another expression, as in the tearing down of the rain forests, of "man's dominion" over nature.
