In terms of metabolism...I didn't pick the winning hand in the game we'll say. The family that I've been blessed with comes with "big boned" people on both side. My mother is a big lady and my dad before he started working out like crazy was a big man.
All my life people have pointed out a little that I could lose. Even as a child I was put on diets. My stepmother put me on a no food diet..and that worked. I was an anorexic without the choice of being one.
My aunt told me that if I ate slowly I would eat smaller portions and lose weight.OK. I ate slowly already..should I just not eat then?
I've been told ok, drink a glass of water before you eat. Drink another while you eat. Drink one right after you eat. I think this was invented by a dehydrated extrememly talented camel. It just left me with a need to pee!
I think I did the Atkins before it was the Atkins. A teacher of mine in Jamaica recommended it. Control the carbs. I lost some weight...and I had a lot of energy. But that wasn't it either.
I've been saved from being Humpty Dumpty by excercise. Or rather being so broke I have to walk every where because I can't take the bus or afford a car! Yes!
That's when my skinny minny friend with the metabolism of a horse on crack introduced me to her diet. Eating.I could eat anything and everything and alot of it. I ate and ate. She made me. When I didn't think I could eat another bite, there she was with another fork ful..I lost sooo much weight. I started discarding clothes. I just got tinier and tinier.
Then I ballooned up when I went to college. That apparently only works if you keep walking and doing things that require all that energy from the food.The sedentry college lifestyle and so much food does not mesh. Even my friend gained a little weight.
So what does work? Dieting? No.There are people who successfully diet and later find themselves shaking like a bowlful of jelly.
What works for all us lazy people who want to deny it..is excercise. Not any decrease or increase in food. When my friend put me on the eating craze I lost a lot of weight because I was walking and dancing and sloughing it off in the process. My metabolism was going crazy trying to give me the energy to do all that excercise.
When I was at my thinnest it wasn't from a diet. It was from all the activities that I was doing. I was running on the track team, swimming, playing soccer and playing cricket, running and climbing trees. I was a busy little bee.
So drop that slimfast bar and get out there!
