Dana Reeve~ Papa Bear, Momma Bear, and Baby Bear

Cancer | cell | chris | christopher | cord | dana | dead | lung | spinal | stem

I'm posting a small thought for this day~

When Christopher Reeve died, I had this stupid idea to write his wife Dana. I didn't do it with any intentions except to pass on my condolences. I told her that when all was said and done, she was raising a wonderful young adult, and couple it with the good that had come out of Mr. Reeve's accident, things would be......ok.

She never left her husband's side. That's a lot more than you can say for many running around on this planet.

Surprisingly, she wrote back, and we corresponded a couple of times. Considering the circumstances, I was astounded at the fact that she was gracious enough to do so, during such a sad period of her life.

Now, the woman has passed at the age of 44, due to lung cancer. I am 43..... shshshhhhhhhh~ don't tell anybody.

As I sit here typing, I'm finding myself saddened by the fact that now, her son has lost both of his parents in such a short time span.

How can your heart not go out to that?

This situation for their son has nothing to do with having famous parents, being around the Hollywood circuit, or any internet blog. This comes down to the human condition....life. It has nothing to do with the good a parent has done, or the bad~

Although he'll always be looked after by the rest of his family, or the rest of the celebrities who will make sure that he'll never live without, it boils down to..........he's lost his daddy bear and his momma bear.

It's such a terrible feeling to lose the very ones that were supposed to take care of you. You don't ever think you'd 'really' ever lose your parents who have treated you with respect, who made sure they never missed a hockey game~ they're supposed to live forever.

When all is said and done, the boy is just another human on this Earth, trying to get by like we all are, and like the rest of us? We're all just trying to matter....he'll always have tears, but when they dry, he can take a small amount of comfort in knowing that his mom and dad were good people, who took their personal tragedies and did 'good' with them.

Very sad

I heard the news this morning of Dana's death. What a sad life this little boy has had, with the tragic loss of his wonderful parents. Words don't fail me often - but they do in this case. My thoughts are with this little boy, and the family around him who will care for him now.

The whole thing is so sad.

I didn't realize that she was that ill already. What a bummer. How old is the boy?

And that's cool that you corresponded with her Tammy.
