Israel and the Middle East are quickly becoming headline news over an escalating war. However, in the US it seems we only hear about it because the war is driving up oil prices. Christians are looking for something else entirely: the soon return of Christ. As I watch the escalating conflict my mind is drawn to the bible, particularly Ezekiel 38&39. These passages are refereed to the battle of Gog and Magog.

Here's is a portion of Ezekiel 38&39:
Son of man, prophesy against Gog of the land of Magog, the prince who rules over the nations of Meshech and Tubal. Give him this message from the Sovereign LORD: Gog, I am your enemy...I will mobilize your troops and cavalry and make you a vast and mighty horde, all fully armed. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya[a] will join you, too, with all their weapons. Gomer and all its hordes will also join you, along with the armies of Beth-togarmah from the distant north and many others (Ezek.38:4-6).
Long ago, I had my prophets warn the people of Israel that someday I would send an enemy to attack them. You, Gog, are that enemy, and that day is coming. But when Gog invades the land of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD, my fury will rise! For in my jealousy and blazing anger, I promise a mighty shaking in the land of Israel on that day (Ezekiel 38:17-19).

To most of you who read this blog these passages will have to relevance but to those who've prophecy. It may very well be fulfilled before our very eyes. I am individual who believes this battle will take before the rapture of the Church and God will divinely protect Israel. The countries mentioned as Gog, Magog, Meshech and Tubal by scholars are thought to be Iran, Russia, Turkey and possibly Ethopia and Libya (all Muslim nations).

Another thought that leads me to this conclusion is that of Iran's most recent threat "of wiping Israel off the face of the world." And the Hezbollah threat of "an all out war on Israel." I haven't see violence this bad since the end of 2004. Even if the war of Ezekiel occurs now or later God will divinely protect his people. I believe Israel’s enemies will not succeed with their war campaign, especially if God has his way, and he always done. God make himself known to this people and to the entire. Only God knows his time table and where we stand. If history is correct the footsteps of Christ returning for his people are not far behind.
