Have you ever thought about your conscience?
We all have one and it speaks to us every day, every time something is out of place that needs our attention, like right and wrong. Where did this come from?
Of course, being a Christian man, I put my faith into God being the creator of the concience, but lets take a look at it. We all have one, which would mean we all have the knowledge of good and evil, right and wrong, truth and non-truth. Many will say that truth is subjective, that it is only what one believes that is truth. Well, is murder wrong? How about rape? Or child mulestation, burglary, even selling drugs on the school playground?
Most reading this will instantly have a reaction to those examples. "But it's a matter of how we want to be treated, that's where the belief comes from."
Really?
There are a number of people with strange sexual practices that like the feeling of being forced upon, sometimes even violently to the point of drawing blood, even near death. Would that make it right to rape if the rapist likes that sort of behaviour on himself?
Chances are, your conscience says no!
"Well, it's a social thing! Most people don't like it, so it has become instilled within each of us." So, that means if society took a different route, it would make it okay? There have been societies, some in recent centuries, that believed mass murder and such things were okay, as long as it's with certain people. Did that make it okay then?
If you listen to your conscience, you most likely have nothing to back such beliefs up. There's a little part inside you that lets you know right from wrong.
Now ask: "Where did it come from?" Does it make sence that such a thing that passes between societies and even time, could have been developed by pure chance, or did someone put it there?
Just think about it!
