Several years ago, I became aware of a program called Future Forests while interviewing a band. During the course, of the interview, they told me of their involvement in the program as well as other atists like Foo Fighters, David Gray, Dido, and the late Joe Strummer. It was an intriguing concept and one well worth participation.

So, what is Future Forests?

Future Forests is a program to help combat carbon dioxide emissions through the planting of trees. The participating artists are aware of the amount of CO2 produced through the making of their CDs or touring and they enlist fans to purchase trees in their designated forests to "soak up" an amount of CO2 equal to what they've produced.
