Stinging nettle, also known by its Latin name Urtica diocia, is a common herb throughout most of the world. The dried leaves can make a nourishing stinging nettle remedy in the form of a tea or infusion. I usually drink at least one cup of nettle tea each day to increase my energy, and it works fantastically. This is because stinging nettle is so full of vitamins and nutrients. It boosts energy levels without the side-effects of stimulants like caffeine. The best part is that anyone can benefit from nettle's health-giving properties.

Stinging Nettle Remedy Benefits

Stinging nettle boasts a huge list of benefits including the ability to increase energy, boost the immune system, prevent and treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones and disorders, fevers, colds, coughs and flu, rheumatism, arthritis, gout, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, enlarged prostate, and many more. It increases circulation of the blood, decreases the risk of cancer, improves digestion and can even strengthen the hair and nails, and clear the skin.

Making Stinging Nettle Tea and Infusions

Tea is the easiest stinging nettle remedy to make at home, and it is also one of the best ways to consume the herb. Nettle tea can be made by steeping one tbsp. of dried leaves in one up of water for 15 minutes. Each cup of tea you drink is rich in calcium, vitamins A and K, all of the known B vitamins, and numerous trace minerals. As you can guess, it makes you feel pretty good to drink a cup every day.

I prefer to make an infusion by placing 3 or 4 tbsp. of dried stinging nettle into a quart-sized mason jar, filling with water and covering. Then, I let the mixture sit overnight and drink it in the morning on ice. It tastes great with a little honey for sweetness and I've found no better stinging nettle remedy than this one.

Other Types of Stinging Nettle Remedies

Another great benefit of stinging nettle is that it's very well priced, considering there is no plant on the earth with more dense nutrition - not even kelp or algae. Nettle can be harvested and used fresh or dried, or the dried leaves can be purchased in bulk. Nettle is also available in pre-made tea bags, which makes it a very convenient health food.

However, some people may not enjoy the taste of nettle, especially if they are new to the world of herbal teas and natural medicine. In this case, stinging nettle remedies such as freeze-dried capsules, extracts and tinctures are available. However you consume it, stinging nettle is a remedy that will improve your well-being and overall health with little effort.
