Obama Never Had a Prayer
Does it seem that oddly to become a judge in the highest court in the land interfreres with ones abilit to think clearly?
When guns were running rampant in our city streets, when little children were being shot to death daily, when drug related drive-by shootings were the rule of the day, the Supreme Court, always striving to do the will of the founding fathers, made a noble determination to liberalize gun laws. OK. Maybe they had a point.
Now, in the same spirit of the wrong thing is probably the right thing, they have declared that corporations - nothing more after all than a collection of individuals with a common goal - can donate unlimited moneys to elect the candidates of their choice. And not a word about transparency. Maybe transparency is "way last week".
The conservatives as President Obama has pointed out have lost any sense of a delicate balance between the rights of the people, and the needs of big business.
So, you say, the liberals have as much right as anyone to donate millions to candidates. But what have they to gain? The Liberal goal, nearly by definition, is to bring fairness to the populace, without profit motive.
Now the suppliers of medical supplies, the oil moguls, all the giants,all the unregulated media have a free hand to bring a slow and agonizing end to the American dream. I tend to hyperbolize.

ARGH!
Again John too true!....Obama is pissing me off big time. He needs to do what the Republicans have been doing for years...HIJACK this country...and do what he SAID he would do...let's pretend he was "King Obama" just for a few short years.

sassys you can't begin to imagine how difficult it must be for a President who actually has the best interests of the country at heart to buck the system and make progress. Powers that be are in a position to spend millions to the media and so forth to make him look bad.
It's a cryin' shame. For a few short weeks there, the country was headed in a new and revolutionary direction for reform, an end to corruption, and maybe even a little more real decency.
Those who have no interest whatever beyond the profit motive have successfully ended that short period of hope. I said it could mean the end of the American Dream, and I meant every word of it.
PS. I probably should apologize for that dated photo of the Supreme Court Justices. I was pressed for time.
I tend to hyperbolize
People and Sassys still try to believe in some vestige of honesty within the Conservative forces now running America. They still think we had good reason for invading Iraq, hanging the Iraqi leader. I'm going to say it again.

Liberals and Obama
I have to take issue !!

There are two things wrong here (in my view) - By supporting their own party and donating millions is to make the fair changes to society - that you say is Liberal goal. That is what they have to gain or what are they in existence as a body for ?
Second issue I have is that 'by definition' a Liberal is someone who wants to "bring fairness to the populace, without profit motive." But Liberal America is already rich and plugged into the profit machine through stocks etc etc that continue to supply their wealth. So a Conservative or Liberal President or government is just two sides of the same coin and 'democracy' becomes an issue of us turkeys voting for Christmas, either a Conservative or Liberal christmas, but never for the rest of humanity.
The Supreme Court
A corporation, domestic or foreign, may wisely donate millions to a politician with the goal of making millions more. But there are few of a philanthropic bent who would volunteer millions for the sheer sake of Justice.
Here is a fresh new thought! Suppose a muslim run foreign corporation (Saudi Billionaire Princes?) chose to go all the way to place a Muslim friendly politician in office, with an end goal of say, changing the population make up of Israel/Pakistan.
After all these years, we know what Bin Laden had in mind for 9/11, and we now know his actual motivation.
Afterthought: Sadam had nothing whatever to do with 9/11, and he was running his country in the way he saw fit.

what !! you mean businesses using their power and money to put their tame politicians into power!! Oh! you mean the way America elects its Presidents I guess. Or maybe the many puppet governments around the world that one of our big powers (including the UK) put and keep in power.
