Making Food

My kids always say, I want food. I say, what do you want? They say, will you please make me food? and this goes on and on. Is there a disconnect here? Am I missing something? If I offer to make them something they say it's not what they want. I have 4 children, this isn't new to me, I just wonder what they are thinking? I also know a lot kids do this. What is it that when were kids were hungry but have no clue as to what we want to eat?
