How Much Time Is Needed To Remove Tattoos?

Seb Jones's picture

It does not matter if you use an inexpensive or costly process in eliminating the ink of the tattoo from your skin since it will take a long time to finish, which I found out in a not so pleasant way. And it was way off course. If we want to get rid of a tattoo fast, we can revive the terrible idea of using excision, something that borders amputation (excision entails the slicing out a part of the skin that has the tattoo on it). However, I am not in favor of the idea of removing a tattoo and having a scar as compared to keeping a nasty looking tattoo on me. Consequently, what choice do we have and what is the time frame in erasing a tattoo?

I was attempting to figure this out about three months before I was supposed to get married. I had the notion that the tattoo of an angel on my shoulder can be removed before the day I would walk down the aisle, since it can be clearly seen on my shoulder when I will wear my wedding dress. No way. Not possible. During that period, the tattoo was not completely removed even after three different sessions using a laser tattoo removal method, and since you cannot go through laser tattoo removal sessions on after the other, it took four more separate sessions to completely take it out, or an additional four months of treatment.

Apart from the tattoo excision process (which simply requires slicing out the skin! What the . . .), dermabrasion or using a tattoo removal cream or some other methods would not be better. These methods also need time to take effect. Moreover, even if you would not feel any pain nor have any marks on your skin when using the tattoo removal creams, it would take months of application of the creams before the tattoo would start to gradually disappear.

Lesson to be learned? You need to start going to the laser treatment sessions about six months to a year before the day you want to take the tattoo otherwise it will never happen.
